He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Indiana State University, USA, and later obtained an M.S. in Computer Engineering and Statistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He received his M.D. in Clinical Medicine from Shandong First Medical University.

He previously served for nearly a decade as Global Director of Medical Innovation at Mead Johnson Nutrition’s U.S. headquarters in Evansville, Indiana; as President of the Mead Johnson (China) Institute for Nutrition & Health Innovation; as China Managing Director for bio-techne (Shanghai); as Senior Medical Scientist and Project Manager at Hollister Incorporated (Chicago, Illinois) and at PPDI headquarters; and as Chief Scientific & Medical Officer of Hainan Guojian Hi-Tech Dairy Co., Ltd.

At present he is Overseas Expert of the “High-Efficiency Intelligent Manufacturing of Microbial Drugs” 111 Innovation Base at East China University of Science & Technology (Shanghai) and Guest Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering within the School of Bio-engineering; Distinguished Expert at the Center for Medical and Health Sciences, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing); Dean of the Low-Allergen Nutrition Research Institute, Yipin Dairy Group (Qingdao); Chairman of the Board, HuaWo Technology Co., Ltd. (Hainan); Think-tank Expert at the i-Gut Institute (Beijing); and Senior Advisor to several multinational corporations.
